In March 2022, the Coalition brought together the leading Canadian heritage organizations to consolidate knowledge and expertise while raising funds to support the protection of cultural heritage in Ukraine.
Presented biennially, the $25,000 KOBZAR™ Book Award recognizes outstanding contributions to Canadian literary arts by authors who write on a topic with a tangible connection to the experiences of Ukrainian Canadians. Genres include literary non-fiction, fiction, poetry, young readers’ literature, play, screenplay, and musical. Distinctive to this Award is monetary recognition for both the winner and the winner’s publisher.
The Gimli International Film Festival (GIFF) is Manitoba’s premier film festival and the largest rural film festival in all of Canada. Since 2001, GIFF has welcomed thousands to the shores of Lake Winnipeg for its various film screenings of local, national, and international feature films, documentaries, short films, and experimental media; not to mention the festival’s premiere event – the Beach Screenings which take place every night of the five-day festival and have drawn people from all over the world to take in one of Manitoba’s most unique summer experiences.
Founded in 1944, The Ukrainian Cultural and Educational Centre – Oseredok – is a museum and archival heritage institution that celebrates the remarkable achievements and legacy of the Ukrainian Canadian community in Canada.
It serves as the community’s collective memory by collecting, caring for, documenting and interpreting collections of ethnology, folk art, fine art, and archives related to community history.
